Eleven professional skaters, six experienced photographers and documentary filmmakers, a super skateboard facility in Ulan-Bator, the capital of Mongolia. The original plan was to take pictures of the skaters riding in the facility. But reality put a damper on the actors' plans, as the skating facility was completely destroyed upon their arrival. This book tells how it went on, how it feels and how it is possible to ride a skateboard in one of the "dirtiest cities in the world". In impressive pictures. And with a completely different dramaturgy.
At the beginning of their one-month stay, the participants experienced very clearly what a motto like "Work in Progress" can also mean. Instead of lamenting, however, the participants grabbed their feet or ventured into streets and squares that no skater had ever skied before. The perspective changed with the environment. And so an illustrated book about skaters in Mongolia has become a gripping document that shows Mongolia from the perspective of skaters and photographers. 200 pictures were selected and commented in English, French, German and Spanish. In 2007 the German Photo Book Award was already awarded for this.
Currently the photo book Dirt Ollies by Carhartt WIP including the DVD is available again and can be ordered here in the SehrGoods.com Shop.
