Stussy & Dashwood Books Present POOLS
Craig Fineman's images define a golden era for skateboarding, a time when the sport took its first steps and when there was a dried-out backyard pool where its pioneers demonstrated their skills. POOLS, part of Stüssy's project celebrating the work of the late skate photographer, published in collaboration with Dashwood Books, features a selection of Fineman's iconic images that present his idiosyncratic approach to skate photography in a unique format. This limited edition publication of 1000 is an opportunity to own a piece of skateboarding history.
That Shawn Stussy would one day produce casual streetwear would probably not have been thought possible even by himself. The passionate surfer started in 1980 in Laguna Beach to decorate self-built surfboards with his last name. He later prints the stylish lettering on shirts, pants and caps and sells the goods from his trunk - the beginning of a great story. After Frank Sinatra Jr. joined the company, the brand expanded to Europe in 1988 - and from there it conquered the whole world with its mix of surf and streetwear. Over time, it serves as a role model and inspiration for numerous new brands that are entering the market.
